V W Bruce Zadye -June 23ed 2010- 7th Manhattan District  by Jon Pufahl

On June 23 meeting our very own V:.W:. Bruce Zadye received confirmation as 7th district AGL.  Presentation was made by DDGM R:.W:. Bill Sohni, R:.W:. Martin D Merman AGL & W:. Jon Pufahl.

We brought bro. Bruce into lodge under the cover story that we needed a JW for the evening.  DDGM Bill Sohni entered the lodge was warmly welcomed and given grand honors by Arcana.  He came to the east and accepted the gavel and said a few words.

I escorted DDGM Bill Sohni with R:.W:. Martin Mermam.  We then proceeded west of the alter for presentation.  All the time being watched by our new AGL who had no idea what was about to happen.

I then addressed the steward asking him to rise and escort VW Bruce west of the alter to meet the delegation that waited.

The surprise was complete and Bruce eyes widened as he started to realize what was going on.  R;.W:.Bill Sohni then with a few brief words presented him with his apron, I Jon Pufahl the name tag and AGL Martin the Jewel of office.

We are all very proud of Bruce and wish him the best!

Brother,
It is with great sadness that I have been informed that one of our Masonic Pillars has passed on.

RW Joseph Homer passed away this morning (Friday November 21, 2008) after a significant illness at age 70

Joe was a devoted man, to his lodge, to his brothers, to his district, to his fraternity.
He was very involved in Elbe-Garfield-Goelet lodge at the time that Arcana Lodge merged with it in 1999.
I was very lucky to be Master of Arcana at that time, and when I first met Joe his love of Masonry was very evident.
He helped merge the lodges, he later served as Treasurer of Arcana when we needed him.
He served several Grand Masters as a member of Grand Lodge, and he served the Seventh Manhattan district with distinction.

Anyone who ever met Joe will always remember him.

Services are scheduled this coming Sunday, November 23rd. I have not yet gotten details from his lovely wife, Anita (who always accompanied him as well as helped him when she could).

RW Joseph Homer was initiated 03/27/1967; passed on 04/10/1967, and raised on 05/08/1967
All in alll, he was a mason in heart and soul for 41 yrs.

Now that he has joined the eternal lodge on high, may his soul have everlasting peace.

Four Short Talks
This book is a collection of four short talks on a variety of historical topics of interest presented by Brother Phillip W. Weiss, Historian, Arcana Lodge # 246, F. & A. M. These presentations took place during regularly scheduled meetings on the dates noted. The September 28, 1999 short talk recounts certain notable events in the history of Arcana Lodge. The November 23, 1999 short talk commemorates the Lodges's transition from the Third to Seventh Manhatten District. The November 9, 2003 short talk discusses Freemasonry in time of war and under adverse circumstances. The January 14, 2004 short talk is about Masonic activities in prisoners-of-war camps.
